Eligibility Requirements

Promotion Board III covers multiple courses for various ranks. Below are highlights:

1. Chief Inspector to HTC/STC

Minimum 3 years of service as Chief Inspector

Middle management or company commander’s training

Exemplary work performance and no adverse reports in the last six months


2. SOIP Course (Sergeant’s Leadership Development)

Minimum 3 years as Sergeant or 2 years as Senior Sergeant

Passed all Police Law exams

Fulfilled Chapter Six of the Kenyan Constitution on integrity


3. Graduate NCO to Inspectorate Course

Bachelor’s degree and a minimum KCSE grade of C+

Strong moral standing and a clean disciplinary record


4. Special SOIP Course

Tailored for graduate police constables with C+ in KCSE

Similar conditions to the standard SOIP course


5. Sergeant and Senior Sergeant Courses
