The Inspector General of the National Police Service, Mr. Douglas Kanja, today opened the newly built Mbaraki Police Station office block in Mvita Constituency, Mombasa City.

The facility, which incorporates all police station services, was constructed through the efforts of the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF) for Mvita.

In his remarks, the area MP, Hon. Mohamed Soud Machele, thanked the IG for gracing the occasion and assured him of the residents’ support in combating crime.

IG Kanja commended the MP for the modern facility, which will provide officers with a conducive working environment. He emphasised that security is a shared responsibility and urged residents to collaborate with the police through community policing to ensure safer neighbourhoods.

Also present were the DIG-KPS, Mr. Eliud Lagat, Regional Police Commander for Coast, Mr. Ali Nunow, CP, Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) for Mvita, Mr. Ahmed Mohamud, other senior police commanders from the region and local political and business representatives.

Later, the IG held a closed-door meeting with senior police commanders, praising their efforts in tackling crime. He called on them to support the ongoing transformation journey, including strengthening community policing, automating services, introducing instant traffic fines, improving service delivery, and eliminating corruption to restore public trust.
